International Women’s day: Creating an impact

International Women’s Day  is a day to celebrate! Employees, volunteers and doTERRA Wellness Advocates, independent direct-sales distributors, from doTERRA and Days for Girls have come together to assemble 1500 feminine hygiene kits that will be distributed to women throughout the world who do not have access to feminine hygiene products and are not educated in basic hygiene.

  • Young women in developing countries miss weeks of school during their menstrual cycle.
  • Some women must sit on cardboard or use leaves, newspaper, cornhusks, or anything they can find during their menstrual cycle because they do not have access to feminine hygiene supplies
  • Many women in developing countries need to be educated on basic hygiene and are unaware of the basics of the menstrual cycle. Education empowers these women and helps them understand they can avoid unplanned pregnancy even as young as 14 years old.

In addition to selling essential oils, doTERRA seeks philanthropic opportunities to support, empower and educate women in communities locally and globally. doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to bringing healing and hope to the world by empowering impoverished communities with the tools needed to become self-reliant. Many of our efforts are focused in countries where we source our oils.

  • In Guatemala, doTERRA teaches women how to run businesses through accounting and financial management classes. The women are also learning cooking and food prep to maintain the health of their families.
  • In Guatemala and Nepal, doTERRA has installed ventilated stoves in homes to improve families’ health and prevent lung disease and other conditions caused by toxic smoke inhalation.
  • In Nepal, doTERRA is providing women with a regular source of income for their families in exchange for wintergreen and other essential oils native to Nepal.
  • After the earthquakes in Nepal, doTERRA was able to immediately send resources to help people start rebuilding their lives with earthquake resistant homes, earthquake resistant schools, and continued business through work opportunities.

doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation supports Days for Girls and 100% of all donations fund projects that help women around the world:

  • Mobile Health Clinics in Madagascar
  • Vocational training in Guatemala
  • Vented cooking stoves in Nepal
  • Micro lending for women starting or growing a business in South America and across Africa
  • Women running bakers and employing men and women from their village
  • Women running small sewing or catering businesses
